WNBA’s Detroit Shock re-sign three players
The Eastern Conference champions re-signed three of their All-Stars on Monday, keeping intact the core (sans Swin Cash, of course) that got them the 2006 title as well as last season’s trip to the WNBA Finals.
Cheryl Ford, Deanna Nolan (pictured right) and Katie Smith all re-upped, much to the happiness of head coach Bill Laimbeer.
From DetroitShock.com:
“We are elated that these three All-Stars have re-signed with the Shock,” said Laimbeer. “Coupled with the re-signing of Plenette Pierson, this once again makes us a formidable contender for the championship. It’s clear that Ford, Nolan and Smith enjoy playing together and want to continue their success together.”
What do you think? Is this enough — coupled with the No. 4 pick in the upcoming draft — to keep the Shock as the favorite to come out of the East? Leave a comment with your thoughts.
