Winters no longer giving anybody Fever
An interesting incident in Indianapolis late Friday as the Indiana Fever announced they did not exercise the option on head coach Brian Winters contract.
Winters was the winningist coach in Fever history, going 78-58 in four seasons. A replacement has yet to be named, but the search is underway according to Fever management.

Fever GM Kelly Krauskopf used a particular phrase that seemed to spell Winters’ doom. Krauskopf told the AP:
“When I say a different direction, I just mean a different voice, new leadership,” she said. “We want somebody that’s going to keep us at the top of the league and understands how to beat Detroit, Connecticut, and can keep a strong leadership style that will push us to the top of the league.”
Even with Winters’ record, the Fever were only 5-7 under him in the playoffs. That’ll get you fired.
In addition to his four seasons with the Fever, the out-of-work coach has also been a head and assistant coach in the NBA.
“I’d like to continue to coach, and we’ll see where it goes. You just never know,” he said. “It’s not the most stable business in the world these days, but I still enjoy it. I still enjoy the game and I’d like to continue to coach if I can.”
Winters did say he doesn’t have anything lined up as of yet.
