Wimbledon Dress Code
Wimbledon officials have sent early warnings to its stars, letting them know that crossing the line on dress code requirements will automatically default them.
Rafael Nadal will be safe in his capris (as long as they’re white) and even Golovin will be nodded through in her bare midriffs. Why not the midriffs? I have no idea. I guess they don’t mind stomachs as much as breasts.
Those who might (and would) get in trouble are cleavage-showers like Maria Sharapova and Kirilenko.
The 2006 Wimbledon players’ guide carries the new caution: “Any competitor who appears on court dressed in a manner which is deemed unsuitable by the committee will be liable to be defaulted.”
It is also meant as a warning to sports manufacturers who try to enlarge their logos on players’ outfits so that they are clearly visible to the television cameras.
Of course, even with all of these ground rules, there will be some who find ways to get around it. Hopefully no one will be sent home because of it. At least, hopefully none of the players I like, anyway …

1 opinion for Wimbledon Dress Code

I think it’s true that they should enforce the dress code because I do believe that players shouldn’t be showing anything. I agree that if you can’t show breats, you shouldn’t be allowed to show your mid-driff area either.
Yes, Nadal is great in his capris, but it’s disappointing that he didn’t wear them. Although I don’t think there needs to be a code for the male players.
