So during the downtime, I received an e-mail press release that I thought you dear readers would want to know about.
Approximately 4,000 college referees will begin wearing pink and using pink whistles starting today in support of the Kay Yow Fund, which I touched upon earlier. The gesture is called “Calling For A Cure” and […]

Well, it couldn’t last forever, I guess.
Epiphanny Prince (above) scored 33 points as Rutgers knocked off No. 1 UConn 73-71 Tuesday evening.
Even crazier, she scored 27 in the second half, and according to the AP, it was Rutgers’ first victory over a top-ranked opponent during the regular season since beating LSU on Jan. 5, 2005.
No. […]

Senior starting guard Mel Thomas (pictured) suffered a season-ending knee injury in their game against Syracuse this week.
Thomas, the game’s leading scorer with 15 points, was going for a loose ball in front of the UConn […]

I came across an interesting article in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram today and I thought I’d pass it along. The writer has two reasons why there’s a lot less parity in the women’s game versus the men’s, and they’re good reasons, albeit known ones if you invest a little time thinking about it.
Women stay in […]

With only one victory necessary to tie the team record for best start ever, the Georgia Lady Bulldogs were bested by Xavier 65-56.
Georgia falls to 13-1, leaving No. 1 UConn and No. 25 Arkansas as the remaining unbeatens in college basketball.
Amber Harris (screaming above) led Xavier with 19 points.
Obviously, Georgia wasn’t pleased with how they […]

Since there’s no way the Bobcats are getting noticed by the national media unless they make the tournament, here’s you Southland Conference update of your blogger’s school. No. 9 Baylor just slaughtered Texas State 84-57 on Friday.
Rachel Allison (pictured above) finished with 23 points and 13 rebounds as Baylor easily defeated their I-35 counterparts in […]

Any other top teams have people they’d like me not to do a blog post about? So far, I’ve had Candace Parker and Candice Wiggins and their teams lose shortly thereafter.
The UCLA women knocked off No. 2 Stanford pretty handily 69-56 Friday night.
The Bruins have played well against some top teams only to fall off […]
