From the Women’s Hoops Blog, we get news that Chicago Sky rookie Sylvia Fowles is practicing again and should return by the Olympic break. Good to hear, they could use her help.

The nightmare is over

With four starters in double figures, the Atlanta Dream defeated the Chicago Sky 91-84 for its first ever franchise victory Saturday evening.
After a league-record 17 straight defeats to begin the franchise, the reserves were the stars of the show, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
For the second game in a row, Atlanta’s reserves pulled their team […]

Hello, world. It’s me, Candace Parker.

Oh, she didn’t do a whole lot in her WNBA debut… she only scored more than any other league player’s debut ever.

Candace Parker scored 34 in her debut with the Los Angeles Sparks, a 99-94 victory over the defending champion Phoenix Mercury on their home floor. Cappie Pondexter did everything to keep the Mercury in […]

WNBA preseason kicks off tonight

A depleted new Seattle Storm roster will take the court Wednesday evening to begin the 2008 WNBA preseason against the Chicago Sky. Both teams bring new coaches to the sidelines (Seattle with former San Antonio Silver Stars assistant coach Brian Agler and Chicago with Steve Key, recently promoted from assistant coach after the not-so-subtle departure […]

Probably for good this time.
Sky fans: I’m incredibly grateful for my opportunity with the Chicago Sky. Not only was I surrounded by quality peers, but I was associated with the best of management. Margaret Stender, Michael Alter, and the entire Sky staff care about […]

Did a message board post cause Sky coach to be fired?

As I touched on last week, the Chicago Sky (although they won’t admit it) were likely moved to release head coach Bo Overton because of a claim made on a message board.
Well, now it’s out in the mainstream reaction. From The Daily Herald outside of Chicago:

Even more shocking was the news that broke on Thursday. […]

Chicago Sky head coach resigns amid harrassment speculation

When I first got the alert this afternoon, I realized something was kind of fishy for a coach/GM to resign at this part of the off-season. Your first thoughts are either major personal problems or some kind of impropriety.
Looks like it might have been the latter.

WNBA releases preseason schedule

Apologies once again for the delays, we’re having some server issues which are preventing me from updating the site in a timely fashion.
The latest news from the WNBA is the Wednesday release of the pre-season schedule. Take a look at it. I haven’t had a chance to take a longer look at it, but hopefully […]

WNBA stars suit up for NBA All-Star Weekend

I’ll admit it, I’m a sucker for the NBA’s All-Star Saturday Night.
My favorite competition is the Three-Point Shootout, but one of the events consistently gaining in popularity is the Shooting Stars competition, which brings together a NBA star, a WNBA star and a NBA legend.
This year’s field includes:

Defending Shooting Stars champion Detroit, including Shock star […]
