Lisa Leslie, Candace Parker could be what WNBA needs

Could the newly-paired combo of Lisa Leslie and Candace Parker in Los Angeles be a boon for the WNBA? Yes, at least that’s according to a column from BlackAthlete.net.

It’s no dream anymore. There they were during the photo shoot, looking at home as they stood side-by-side, Parker wearing No. 3, the same number little girls […]

Parker, Summitt take home more awards

Candace Parker, the 2008 WNBA Rookie of the Year (yeah, I said it) and Tennessee Lady Vols coach Pat Summitt took home two more awards to cap off a pretty outstanding week.
Parker won her second consecutive John Wooden Award as the most outstanding player in women’s college basketball. Summitt received the Legends in Coaching award, […]

Liveblogging the WNBA Draft

Unless Candace Parker’s arm falls off between now and the next few minutes, she’ll be the No. 1 pick by the Los Angeles Sparks.
I don’t think you can hold any of LA’s stats last season against them as depleted as their roster was.
12:05 p.m. - I don’t think LA can really waste any time unless […]

Tennessee wins the national title

In surprising fashion, the Tennessee Lady Vols won their eighth national title and second in a row Tuesday evening.

Congrats to them, and since you were likely watching while I was working on highway closures and election results, you know how it happened more than I do.

Hornbuckle gets redemption, sends Lady Vols to championship game

Ball don’t lie.
Alexis Hornbuckle had missed every shot she’d taken in the game, but on her eighth try, she sent the Tennessee Lady Vols to the national championship game. Hornbuckle scored with less than a second remaining in the game to give the No. 1 Lady Volsa 47-46 victory over No. 2 LSU. From the […]

Another Candace Parker feature

If you had any doubt Candace Parker would be going No. 1 in Wednesday’s WNBA draft, read this.
“I don’t think the shoulder will be a problem,” (Los Angeles Sparks coach Michael) Cooper said. “But even if it is, she’ll still be a No. 1 pick because she can definitely play basketball.”
Yeah, she’s going to LA. […]

Candace Parker suffers shoulder injury

Just glanced over at our TV showing the Tennessee-Texas A&M regional final and it appeared that Candace Parker suffered a shoulder problem. She was shown visibly grimacing while continuing to play and was eventually taken to the locker room.
I’ll have more once I can sit and check it out further.
