So the expansion draft is a few days away, but what I really hate is that we won’t know who is protected essentially until the list of who joins the Atlanta Dream is announced.
According to the L, this is how this is going down:

So as I told you before, it’s official. The newest WNBA franchise finally has a name, colors and logo.
I was thinking it’d be a blue similar to the Atlanta Hawks, but alas, it’s sky blue with red (lightish red for any of you RedVsBlue fans).

The new Atlanta franchise finally has a name.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, owner Ron Terwilliger confirmed the new name late Tuesday evening.
“It seems to me it’s a really consistent name with Atlanta and its history,” Terwilliger said.
Atlanta City Council president Lisa Borders, an adviser to the team, agreed.
“The name fits Atlanta so well — from […]

A little update on the new Atlanta franchise from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The team should have its name next week, according to the article, and the team said they have sold about 1,500 season tickets so far. I imagine there will be a rush once the name/logo are unveiled and you get some players on the […]

The WNBA schedule is out.
While the WNBA has their own “Games To Watch,” I’m going to wait a little bit to see where free agency falls out, but I’ll release an initial list sometime tonight.

The new Atlanta franchise has a coach.
Marynell Meadors, one of the league’s first coaches with the Charlotte Sting, was named head coach and GM today by owner Ron Terwilliger.
There’s a Q&A with Meadors over at WNBA.com.
More on this from me later.

Updating our previous post on Dennis Rodman doing whatever he can to get his name in the papers, he’s not going to be the coach of the new Atlanta WNBA franchise, said owner Ron Terwilliger.
From the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:
Not so fast, said Ron Terwilliger, the owner of Atlanta’s new franchise, which will begin play in 2008. […]

Well, the new owner of the expansion Atlanta Somethings is a lot of things — including a real estate tycoon — but rather than going through and finding out all I can, I came across this nice profile of the man from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Fourteen ping-pong balls will determine five of the first six picks in the WNBA Draft. The annual lottery takes place later on today in which four of 14 balls will be drawn at least three times to determine which non-playoff team will have the first, second and third pick in the 2008 WNBA Draft.
The newly-announced […]
