Stay safe, Cali (plus a bullet)
I’m sitting at the Alamodome waiting for a football game to start and noticed a tournament in California (and probably much more) were canceled because of the fresh fires.
UT-Arlington (close to my heart with Southland Conference connections) was scheduled to play in the championship final versus Wisconsin (the tournament, the Timeout 4 HIV/AIDS, was held at the Pepperdine campus) and Pepperdine was scheduled to face Mississippi in the third-place game.
The fires have been pretty intense in California, so I hope any California readers get through this okay.
- Courtney Paris of Oklahoma had her NCAA record-streak of 64 consecutive games with a double-double come to an end Friday evening. Paris finished with 16 points and eight rebounds. But the other news out of this game was the play of Courtney’s sister, Ashley,who scored 24 points in the Sooners 88-73 victory over Mississippi State.
