So much for the Shock treatment
- The rookies got the Minnesota Lynx off to a great opener as they defeated the defending Eastern Conference champion Detroit Shock 84-70. Charde Houston, Candice Wiggins and Nicky Anoiske scored more than half the Lynx points, dropping 47. Katie Smith played well for the Shock, but it looks as though Deanna Nolan’s going to struggle with this ankle injury for a bit — she might need to sit out a game to heal up.
- Some might have slept on the Connecticut Sun this season, what with their near-complete roster overhaul, but here they are 2-0 three days into the season. The Sun downed the New York Liberty 77-63, led by Tamika Whitmore’s 17 points.

Jolene Anderson was a proven scorer in college. Looks like she might just do pretty well at the next level.
