Silver Stars sign their own French point guard
(First off, the headline choice is shamelessly ripped from my old 4th Floor buddies at the San Antonio Express-News).
Anyway, the San Antonio Silver Stars signed Edwige Lawson-Wade, the starting point guard from the French national team, to a free-agent deal today. Lawson has been playing in Europe and the Russian League (now with CSKA Moscow with new Stars teammates Becky Hammon and Ann Wauters) since leaving the WNBA in 2006.
Playing with your teammates for extended periods of time will help floor movement, too, something head coach Dan Hughes alluded to after the signing.
“We are pleased to have Edwige join the Silver Stars,” said Hughes. “Her abilities with the ball and defensively will be a real asset to our growth and chemistry on the court.”
By my count, this should leave one roster spot for Joyce Ekworomadu. Expect Lawson to play the backup PG position behind Becky, and with her defensive presence, she could be brought in against quicker guards, too.

I think this move is a good chioce. She is a very fast, and is a good defensive player. I hope that she gets more plaing time, on the 19 of Jul I was at the game but she did’nt play very much. Hope that changes soon and she is really HOT.
