Sheryl Swoopes doing fine after surgery; teases Mystics fans
Noted WNBA free agent Sheryl Swoopes recovered enough from her back surgery to attend the Human Rights Campaign’s Eleventh National Dinner this past weekend.
Swoopes was honored by the organization dedicated to ending discrimination against gay, lesbian, transgendered and transsexual people.
During her introduction by Washington Mystics president Sheila Johnson, Swoopes joked with the crowd about her future in the WNBA. From DC Basket Cases via Rebkell.
Sheryl began her speech by saying that while her agent, who was in the audience, had told her not to mention this, she wanted Sheila to know that while she loves Texas, “I am a free agent.” This elicited a standing ovation from the Mystics fans in the audience.
