Serena Williams Back on the Court

by Ingrid Diaz on June 16th, 2006

After months of being sidelined by injuries (her last match was back at the Australian Open), seven-time grand slam winner, Serena Williams will be joining the Western & Southern Financial Group Women’s Open in July.

“Lately, I have been working very hard on making my knee stronger, and that work is progressing well. Barring any setbacks, it is my hope that I will be able to rejoin the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour at Cincinnati.”

It’s really good to know Serena is feeling better. It’ll be nice to see her on the court again. Not that it’s not enough to see Venus there, but it’s always nice to see the Williams sisters doing what they do best.

Of course, Serena’s current rank is 104 so I don’t see her hitting the top 10 any time soon. Best case scenerio: she doesn’t injure her knee further. :)

just because the williams sisters come out of top 10,100,200 or what ever does not mean they cannot win any graandslams!!!! The william sisters should go back into doubles cause they are the strongest womens doubles players in the world its obvious!!!! even if they are injured!!! and I cant wait to see venus kick ass in wimbledon and stay defending champion and when serena comes back its gonna be (WILLIAMS SISTERS NO.1 AND 2!!!) but for doubles(WILLIAMS SISTERS NUMBER 1)
