Seattle Storm may be without Janell Burse
Various injury issues may end up keeping Seattle Storm center Janell Burse out for an extended period of time this season, we learned from the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.
According to the article, Burse has missed her last few games with her European team and the team will have an announcement this week about her condition. The biggest problem has apparently been what’s called a Jones fracture (I had to look it up myself).
She was seriously considering offseason surgery, until deciding against it at the end of the season. In her defense, she had just undergone surgery to repair damaged ligaments in her wrist after spraining it July 24.
But it’s a Jones fracture, which occurred during her 2006-07 offseason, that appears to be Burse’s most pressing injury.
“She still has some lingering issues with her shoulder and she’s had a constant Jones fracture. I don’t know if it’s totally healed yet,” Agler said. “I think that’s sort of been an issue here of late. So, we’re not real clear on what the ending is going to be, but we will probably know here in the next couple days.”
We also learn from the P-I about Sheryl Swoopes‘ likely return this week.
