No biggie, but it’s official

by Joe on February 28th, 2008

So the league made the final approval for the sale of the Seattle Storm to the Force 10 group who saved the franchise from being re-located alongside the NBA’s Supersonics.

“This is an exciting day for all the fans who have been so loyal to the Storm over the years,” said Levinson, who negotiated the transaction for Force 10 Hoops and will be the team’s chairperson. “For us to have been able to provide the league with a letter signed by nearly 1,200 fans, resolutions from government leaders, and strong growth in ticket sales and sponsorships over just the past six weeks speaks to the incredible support from the fans and the community and is evidence of how much this team means to the Seattle region.

I spoke with an old friend earlier this week who is from the Seattle area and he’s honestly pretty bummed about losing the NBA team. We were close here with the San Antonio Spurs at one point, but we got lucky. Still, though, it’s got to feel nice to Storm fans that it’s signed, sealed, delivered.
