Mercury could have new coach by Wednesday
Phoenix Mercury assistant coach Corey Gaines is a candidate for the position vacated by Paul Westhead, the Arizona Republic said on Tuesday.
Gaines, a former NBA player and understudy of Westhead, said Monday he had not been offered the position, but did have a formal interview. Gaines has the support of players on the team, the Republic said.
