Mauresmo On to Her First Ever Wimbledon Finals

by Ingrid Diaz on July 6th, 2006

What an amazing match! Wow! I actually thought Mauresmo was in trouble after she blew that second set against Maria Sharapova. But man, did she come back in the third set. Final score, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.

Great stuff out on that grass court today. Amelie Mauresmo will now be facing Justine Henin-Hardenne in the finals. This marks the French player’s first time in the Wimbledon finals, and I can’t wait for that match up. I’ve been waiting for them to go against each other again since the Australian Open finals, where Henin-Hardenne was forced to withdraw due to illness. That was quite the disappointment. Let’s see what happens when they face each other gain.

Neither women has won Wimbledon before, so I imagine they will both be wanting it just as badly as the other.

Great week for France. France in the World Cup finals. France in the Wimbledon finals. Let’s see how well the country does against their opponents.
