Mauresmo: Headed to Victory or Failure?

by Ingrid Diaz on August 28th, 2006

The USA Today has an interesting article on Amelie Mauresmo’s tennis career. I have to agree with Pam Shriver of ESPN, in that Mauresmo can keep going on her winning streak, or lose everything from here on end, and neither would be surprising.

Mauresmo happens to be my favorite player, mainly because she’s so unpredictable. Just when I think she’s going to lose, she turns around and wins the whole thing. But, experts are saying it could just be a career year, rather than the start of a trend for Mauresmo.

Some are saying that the US Open will provide a kind of crystal ball wherin we can glimpse the future of Mauresmo’s career, but I don’t really think it will make a difference. Whether she wins another Grand Slam this year, or loses in the first match, I think Mauresmo will be back next year and the year after that, and there’s no telling what she’ll make of it.

I guess, like most things in tennis, we’ll have to wait and see.
