Let there be labor peace!
Slightly over-dramatic, but I’m hopped up on Cocoa Puffs trying to work tonight.
Anyway, the players and the league finally reached an agreement that can officially start this off-season.
Basics of the deal include:
- Player salary and team salary cap increases
- Living upgrades — namely, five-year vets no longer have to share rooms on the road.
- Revenue sharing agreement remains from old CBA
- “Core player” designations — which should allow more players to test free agency — will keep the max salary upgrade, but will drop from two to one, the amount of players a team can slap with the core tag (starting in 2009).
Now for the fun part. The expansion draft is on Feb. 6, but no word yet on when teams have to name their protected list.
