Italy Moves on to Fed Cup Semifinals

For the first time in a very long time, Italy has defeated France at the Fed Cup. Francesca Schiavone beat top-ranked Amelie Mauresmo 4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4, Flavia Pennetta deafeated Nathalie Dechy 6-4, 6-2, and in the doubles, Mara Santangelo and Roberta Vinci defeated Emilie Loit and Virginie Razzano 6-1, 6-4.

Italy now moves on to face Spain in the semifinals, July 15-16.
