Is Lauren Jackson the woman’s Jordan?
Yes, says Andrew Gaze.
Gaze, widely recognized as Australia’s best basketballer, said the two-time WNBA MVP is producing in the women’s game as Michael Jordan did in the men’s game. Of course, the caveat here is that very few people know it — something Gaze acknowledges.
“Given the exposure and marketing of women’s sport in general, you are never going to get the same sort of adulation as Michael Jordan or another male athlete playing in the NBA.
“But just from a basketball sense, in what [Jackson] is producing on the court on a regular basis, it’s not something outrageous to say. It does make sense. Don’t forget, you are talking about Lauren doing this in the most participated sport in the world. It is something that is truly remarkable. When you consider … where she has come from and what she has been able to achieve, it’s a remarkable story.”
It’s obvious Jackson won’t make the financial gains Jordan did, but do you agree with Gaze? Is LJ the best female basketballer in history?
