A W-L record of 5-4 is probably not where many (including writer man here) expected the San Antonio Silver Stars to be at right now, but alas, here we are with the Stars fighting for the fourth spot in the West. As Terrance Thomas of the San Antonio Express-News puts it, though, it’s all built […]

A report from The Associated Press says Indiana Fever star Tamika Catchings is expected to return from her injured foot this weekend. The best part about this for the Fever is they’ve done decently well (4-3) without her in the lineup, which has allowed Katie Douglas to establish herself on the team.
Catchings was with the […]

For the third time in her eight-year career, Katie Douglas has been named the WNBA’s Player of the Week.
Douglas is averaging 21.4 ppg over the first five games of the season. The Indiana Fever finished 2-1 last week, including knocking off the previously unbeaten Los Angeles Sparks in double OT.

The names you’d expect fill the roster (so far) of the U.S. Women’s National Team. From the AP via ESPN:
Candace Parker
Lisa Leslie
Sue Bird
Cappie Pondexter
Diana Taurasi
Katie Smith
Tina Thompson
Seimone Augustus
Sylvia Fowles
But it wasn’t that hard, according to head coach Anne Donovan.
“These nine players are no-brainers,” U.S. Olympic coach Anne Donovan said. “It’s so exciting to have these […]

My favorite sister-of-a-Bobcat-basketballer, Crystal Langhorne, had a profile in the Washington Times today and she got some instant karma, scoring eight points on 4-of-4 shooting in the Washington Mystics 69-66 victory over the Houston Comets to get their first win of the season.
Coach Tree Rollins said the choice was between Langhorne and a few other […]

First off, I was all set to go watch the SA-Seattle game before something important with my family took me away very early Saturday morning, which is why I haven’t been able to update for a bit, but anyway…
Silver Stars weather the Storm with a pair of 20-point nights from Sophia Young and Becky Hammon […]

First, it causes too many people to go (as my friend Scooter would say) ape-poopy. WNBA.com released its first power ranking list yesterday and the West is all a-shambles right now.
1. LA (1-0)
2. Seattle (2-0)
4. San Antonio (1-1)
5. Minnesota (1-0)
6. Sacramento (1-1)
9. Phoenix (0-2)
Okay, now let’s look at how I think (and I know you […]

Oh, she didn’t do a whole lot in her WNBA debut… she only scored more than any other league player’s debut ever.
Candace Parker scored 34 in her debut with the Los Angeles Sparks, a 99-94 victory over the defending champion Phoenix Mercury on their home floor. Cappie Pondexter did everything to keep the Mercury in […]
