When prompted at a recent autograph session, your favorite WNBA rookie Candace Parker belted out “Rocky Top.” Courtesy of WBIR.com.

WNBA fans make the long trek

The New York Times briefly profiled a small group of WNBA fans who take their teams “triple-digit driving” seriously.
On Friday, Dr. Shailesh Rajguru, 40, drove with his wife and two daughters to watch the expansion Dream play its first home game at Philips Arena in Atlanta.

WNBA hosts community events before season-openers

Came across this from the people over at SilverStarsNation. The WNBA is hosting community events this week as part of WNBA Cares Week before they officially tip-off.  Some of the highlights (I’m a sucker for parent-child stuff.)

Would you like some fries with that WNBA season opener?

According to an article in Advertising Age, the WNBA will debut this season (next week, whee!) with a McDonald’s logo on all 14 team jerseys.

The league holds a rookie camp on style and […]

Congrats to Margo Dydek

Former Connecticut Sun center Margo Dydek gave birth to her first child earlier this month and the team posted a picture of Mom and David Jr. on its Web site.
You’ll remember I mentioned that Dydek was considering retiring from the game to spend time with her family, and while nothing’s yet official, it seems that […]

Indiana Fever players ball with Barack Obama

Tamika Catchings and Alison Bales got together for a quick game of 3-on-3 with presidential candidate Barack Obama after an Indiana rally. Catchings is still recovering from surgery, so she reffed, but Bales clogged the lane for the Democrat.
No word on how they all played, though.

WNBA, San Antonio Silver Stars help with World Malaria Day

We’ve talked before about Nothing But Nets, but now, with World Malaria Day happening today, the San Antonio Silver Stars and WNBA are helping out with trying to provide mosquito nets for families in Africa.
This is a big program for the Stars’ Ruth Riley, so if you’re so inclined, a $10 donation will purchase a […]
