Carlos Rodriguez vs. Kim Clijsters
Justine Henin-Hardenne’s coach, Carlos Rodriguez, just likes to get in trouble with other players, it seems. Or maybe the press likes to get him in trouble.
Kim Clijsters posted to her official website’s journal the following:
I would like to congratulate Justine Henin-Hardenne very much for her wonderful performances this year. However, I feel sorry for her coach telling lies about me and my family in the press.
Carlos Rodriguez jumped onto Justine Henin-Hardenne’s official website to post the following:
Contrary to what appeared in certain daily newspapers (International and Belgian), at no point did I say comments which attacked a player, players or members of their families. In regards to Kim, I cannot say enough how much I appreciate her relationship with Justine.
I regret the misunderstanding, and disappointment these comments may have caused which were wrongly quoted in my name. I did not say those comments at the Masters Madrid.
Thank you in advance,
Carlos
It seems odd that the press would’ve just made it all up. I’m sure he must’ve at least said something that a journalist somewhere either misunderstood or purposely twisted to create some drama.

Let’s drop it.
No reporter should be supported for twisting the facts. There’s no excuse to do so. When it’s truly harmful, it’s against the law and called ‘defamation’.
I disagree that he must have said something to have been twisted.
Reporters do this for a living. They certainly know how to paint things upside down to boost the sale of their paper or radio report. Such practices should not be encouraged because it’s disrepectful for the players, coaches, and ultimately “unsportsman-like’.
