Anne Donovan resigns, must not like Oklahoma City

First and foremost, my apologies for these couple of silent days. Long work hours, along with bad poker and the inevitable recuperation from the mix of the two, prevented me from updating during this surprisingly busy time.

Apparently, Anne Donovan must be tired of long work hours (or bad poker, maybe) as she resigned as head coach and director of player personnel for the Seattle Storm, ending a five-year career with the 2004 WNBA champions.

Donovan, who also coaches Team USA, said she wanted a new challenge in her career — what that is exactly is unknown.

“After five years and a great experience with the Storm, I have decided it’s time for a change and a new direction in my career, an opportunity for me to explore new experiences.” Donovan said. “The level of support the fans in Seattle have shown for the Storm has been incredible. I will miss it, but feel I am making the right decision.”

What makes the above picture even scarier is the fact that Seattle fans might not only lose their team, but its complete identity could be gone before the final season even tips off. Donovan? Resigned. Sue Bird? Free agent. Lauren Jackson? Contemplating time off to compete for her national team.

According to USA Today, Storm fans better buy some programs next season as they only have three players under contract for the upcoming season at this time.
