A couple of big re-signings

Just a brief about a few of the larger WNBA signings or extensions that have come across my inbox in the past few days.

Helen Darling re-signed with the San Antonio Silver Stars. The seven-year veteran provides great defense for the Stars and can still hit the occasional shot to keep opposing defenses honest.
Tamika Catchings re-signed with the Indiana Fever, which should keep her with her original team through 2011. Catchings averages over 15 points and nine rebounds per game, but considering it was her injury that essentially prevented the Fever from advancing to the Finals, this was a no-brainer for the franchise. Couple that with the acquisition of Katie Douglas and the Fever should be contenders once again.
Jiam Perkins will be staying with the Chicago Sky after the team matched an offer by the Houston Comets.
