(And $500 million.)
One man feels the NBA owes him some respect, some recognition and what I mentioned above (well, I’m not certain about the “N”) and damned if he’s not suing to get it.
Lightning Mitchell (yeah) has filed a lawsuit in federal court claiming the National Basketball Association stole his idea for a women’s basketball […]

If the Huskies can pull off an undefeated season with what happened this week, they deserve it.
Senior starting guard Mel Thomas (pictured) suffered a season-ending knee injury in their game against Syracuse this week.
Thomas, the game’s leading scorer with 15 points, was going for a loose ball in front of the UConn […]

A little update on the new Atlanta franchise from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The team should have its name next week, according to the article, and the team said they have sold about 1,500 season tickets so far. I imagine there will be a rush once the name/logo are unveiled and you get some players on the […]

Tuesday came and went without any new agreement on the WNBA’s collective bargaining agreement, which means teams still cannot sign free agents.
The start of the signing period has been pushed back indefinitely while negotiations are hammered out.
It’s still not so bad… yet. There’s still a decent amount of time between now and the end of […]

Adding to the new faces coming to Los Angeles, the Sparks hired former NBA player Larry Smith as an assistant coach.

I came across an interesting article in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram today and I thought I’d pass it along. The writer has two reasons why there’s a lot less parity in the women’s game versus the men’s, and they’re good reasons, albeit known ones if you invest a little time thinking about it.

Only because they love having 11 a.m. press conferences, the Seattle Storm will reportedly hire Brian Alger as their new head coach.
Alger, an assistant coach with the San Antonio Silver Stars, previously was head coach of the Minnesota Lynx from 1999-2002.
Oh, yeah, the team got sold to a local ownership group, too.

Looks as though the Storm will be staying in Seattle.
The Seattle Post-Intelligencer is reporting that a local ownership group is purchasing the Seattle Storm from Clay Bennett.
The Seattle Storm is staying put. A local ownership group has bought the WNBA franchise from Clay Bennett and his Oklahoma City-based group, a source with knowledge of the […]

Why do we do this? Why do we love sports?
It’s simple. It’s an outlet, it’s what’s brought me closer to my career. Hell, because of an injury playing sports, I became a journalist.
Back when I was in middle school, I was running a drill and severely damaged my knees. I was told subsequent injuries like […]
