In a match that began yesterday and continued today, Martina Hingis managed to come back after her loss in the second set, to defeat Israel’s Shahar Peer 6-3, 2-6, 6-4. Peer played a great game, but still could not beat Hingis in the last set.

With a final score of 3-6, 6-7 (4), Kuznetsova has defeated Li at the French Open. The second set went into a tie-breaker, with Li on the Russian’s tail. Alas, it was not to be for the Chinese player.
Kuznetsova now moves on to play either Justine Henin-Hardenne or Tathiana Garbin.

That was a fun match to watch. I was a little worried for Henin-Hardenne there in the second set. She began to choke a little, hitting the net a little more than necessary. But she came back to a second-set victory, defeating Yakimova 6-2, 7-5.
