Well, after the Kiefer/Gicquel match went into over-over-over time (I was truly convinced it would never, ever end), I missed the first set of the Mauresmo/Dushevina match, but I was there for the second.
Mauresmo defeated Dushevina after going into a tiebreaker in the second set. The final score was 6-1, 7-6.
I think Mauresmo’s toughest […]

That was a fast match! Sharapova defeated Benesova in two sets with a final score of 6-4, 6-1.
Mauresmo is playing a little later and I’m hoping they show the whole thing (or I’ll scream loudly at the TV).

Natalie Dechy has just defeated Stephanie Foretz at the French Open. The final score between the two is 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.
I only managed to catch the final set because France likes to favor the men’s games so they only squeeze the women in when they feel like it. Next year, I’m just going to have […]

Well, for some reason they started the French Open on a Sunday, which I wasn’t expecting. First round is now over with and here are the results from the women’s matches:
Maria Sharapova came out victorious in the first round of the French Open yesterday, beating Mashona Washington 6-2, 5-7, 7-5.
France’s own Amelie Mauresmo defeated Meghann […]

In really disappointing news (for me, anyway), France’s Mary Pierce has decided to pull out of the French Open due to injuries. The player injured herself back in February at the Gaz de France and hasn’t played since.
“I don’t feel 100 percent ready to be competitive at this tournament. I don’t know when I will […]

Nineteen-year-old Maria Kirilenko has been attracting some serious attention from the high fashion world, even beating out Russian beauties Kournikova and Sharapova.
Certainly, fashionistas have been suggesting that the 19-year-old has the poise and the cool and the bone structure that would not shame someone aspiring to be the next Kate Moss or Naomi Campbell. She […]

Elena Dementieva talks to eurosport about beating Hingis, and how it was a special moment that gave her a lot of confidence. She discusses losing the Fed Cup, Grand Slams (the French Open is her favorite!), the importance of serves, and a whole lot more. It’s a great interview.

Amelie Mauresmo sits down to talk about how much she loves Paris in a video interview with Eurosport.
She denies liking strong cocktails (as the interviewer claims she states in her website). Like any true Frenchwoman, she prefers wine.
