End of Winning Spree for Mauresmo

Yes, that’s right. Mauresmo finally lost! To Russia’s Svetlana Kuznetsova in the quarterfinals of the Dubai Women’s Open. Final score: 7-6 6-4.
Unfortunately for Amelie Mauresmo, the loss means that she won’t be taking Kim Clijsters’ position as the number one ranked women’s tennis player. Somewhere, Kim is cheering, I’m sure.
Meanwhile, in the other quaterfinal matches:

Clijsters Withdraws from Pacific Life Open

During the finals in Antwerp, Kim Clijsters lost to Mauresmo 6-3, 3-6, 3-6, and in the process managed to reaggravate her right ankle, which she initially injured during the Australia Open.
